Detour for Glasgow public square begins Monday

GLASGOW — A road maintenance project on one corner of the Glasgow public square will mean detours for downtown travelers next week.

Weather permitting, the work on West Main Street and North Race Street is scheduled to start Monday, and it is expected to put the intersection off limits to motor vehicle traffic for a minimum of three days and nights once it begins, according to Greg Meredith, chief engineer at the District 3 Kentucky Department of Highways office in Bowling Green.

The intersection has had to be milled out a few times already due to ruts developing there, which creates a washboard effect like the one they hope to correct now, but with a different approach, he said. This time, these sections of the streets will be paved with concrete.
