Endicott receives 20-year sentence for two murders

GLASGOW — A sentencing for a Metcalfe County teenager who pleaded guilty to two counts of murder became emotional Tuesday as both sides of the case pleaded with a judge regarding prison time.

Christopher Lee Endicott, now 16, was charged with two counts of murder, robbery, two counts of theft by unlawful taking, custodial interference, tampering with physical evidence, fleeing or evading police and wanton endangerment on March 22, 2011, after he shot and killed his guardians, Barbara and Gary Holloway, stole their truck and took a female juvenile with him while he attempted to evade law enforcement. Endicott was charged as an adult, and in October he pleaded guilty to murder, robbery, tampering with evidence and fleeing or evading police. With his plea deal, a sentence of 20 years in prison was recommended.

In the courtroom of Metcalfe Circuit Court Judge Phil Patton Tuesday morning, both sides countered the recommended sentence, with family members of the Holloways requesting life in prison without parole, and Endicott’s attorney asking for probation instead of prison time.

Endicott was only 15 years old at the time of his crimes, said public defender Charles Bates, and his youth should not be forgotten.

“We cannot treat children as miniature adults,” Bates said.
