11:15 p.m. EVENING UPDATE: KSP traffic checkpoint in Hart County leads to arrest with multiple charges

GLASGOW — On Wednesday, Nov. 21, Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was conducting a traffic safety check point in Bonnieville when a vehicle turned around in an attempt to evade the police.

Trooper Daniel White was able to catch up to the vehicle and eventually make a traffic stop on Walnut Grove School Road. Michael E. Patterson, 24, of Horse Cave was the driver of the vehicle. Patterson was destroying marijuana by eating it at the time White stopped the vehicle, according to the KSP report.

Patterson was arrested for DUI, first offense; reckless driving; speeding 20 mph over the limit; tampering with physical evidence, fleeing or evading police, first degree (motor vehicle); failure to wear a seatbelt; and Kentucky resident not to use license of other states. Patterson was lodged in the Hart County Jail.

White was assisted on the scene by Trooper Jeremy Smith.
