New day, new school arrive for Metcalfe district

After two years of construction, Metcalfe County school district personnel, community members and state political leaders celebrated the Metcalfe County Primary Center’s official opening with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday evening.

Construction on the nearly $11 million facility began in August 2011 with the development of a new roadway to route traffic. Venture Contracting, of Glasgow, began work on the building in early 2012 and completed construction just in time for the start of school on Aug. 8.
