4:48 EVENING UPDATE: Eaton shares resignation plan

GLASGOW — Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton has informed Glasgow Daily Times that today is his last day in office.

“I'll be tendering my resignation today as sheriff of Barren County, effective 11:59 p.m. tonight, July 31, 2013,” Eaton said.

According to Nancy Houchens, deputy judge executive, Judge Executive Davie Greer has been out of the office all week due to illness. So, Eaton plans to hand deliver his resignation to either Greer or Houchens sometime this evening.

“I'll fax it to her office too,” Eaton said.

Eaton began a meeting with his staff at 4:30 p.m. that was closed to media.
