Patton denies 2nd Barton motion

GLASGOW — Barren Circuit Judge Phillip Patton declined to intervene in the City of Glasgow’s disciplinary process against a police sergeant accused of lying to federal investigators and to a grand jury.

On Tuesday, Glasgow Police Department Sgt. Jessie Barton’s attorney B. Alan Simpson asked for an emergency hearing in circuit court. He filed the request along with an amended complaint that asked the judge to do the following: Determine which state law applies to the process; order the city to issue subpoenas that have been denied; and to reinstate Barton and pay him for the time he’s been placed on administrative leave.
