The Glasgow Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the city landfill around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in recently dumped garbage. Because of limited access, firefighters could only get within 250 feet of the fire, according to a press release from Chief Tony Atwood.
Firefighters with the help of landfill personnel were able to contain the fire to the area of origin as a bulldozer was used to dig out and spread the trash so firefighters could extinguish the fire.
