Barren County grand jury returns indictments

GLASGOW — A Barren County grand jury convened Feb. 20 and returned indictments.

• Adam R. Washington, 26, of Louisville, was indicted on one count each of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, cocaine, four grams or more, weapon enhancement; first-degree possession of controlled substance, cocaine, weapon enhancement; second-degree possession of controlled substance, hydrocodone, weapon enhancement; possession of drug paraphernalia, weapon enhancement; possession of marijuana, weapon enhancement; and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Glasgow Police Department Sgt. Brad Lewis testified.



• Two co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in September and October.

Deandra L. Barlow, 25, of Glasgow, was indicted on trafficking in marijuana, less than eight ounces, second offense, weapon enhancement; trafficking in marijuana, eight ounces or more but less than five pounds, second offense, weapon enhancement; endangering the welfare of a minor; two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia; illegal possession of a legend drug; and possession of marijuana.

Brandi C. Barlow, 26, of Glasgow, was indicted on trafficking in marijuana, less than eight ounces, first offense, weapon enhancement; trafficking in marijuana, eight ounces or more but less than five pounds, first offense, weapon enhancement; endangering the welfare of a minor; two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia; illegal possession of a legend drug; and possession of marijuana.

• Two co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in October.

James L. Mathews, 59, of Glasgow, was indicted on a single count each of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, morphine, less than 10 dosage units; second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, hydrocodone, less than 20 dosage units; and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, diazepam, 20 or more dosage units.

Rebecca J. Matthews, 53, of Glasgow, was indicted on a single count each of first-degree complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance, morphine, less than ten dosage units; second-degree complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance, hydrocodone, less than 20 dosage units; third-degree complicity to trafficking in controlled substance, diazepam, 20 or more dosage units; second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, lortab, less than 20 dosage units; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Adam B. Emberton, 36, of Glasgow, on one count each of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

GPD Officer Ashley Jones testified.



• Jesse B. Calvert, 31, of Scottsville, on a single count each of tampering with physical evidence; first-degree promoting contraband; third-degree possession of controlled substance, alprazolam; theft by unlawful taking, under $500; possession of drug paraphernalia;  and possession of marijuana.

GPD Officer Ford testified.



• Carnessa D. Childress, as known as Carnessa C. Hawkins, 36, of Cave City, on a single count of first-degree possession of controlled substance, methamphetamine, second offense; second-degree promoting contraband; theft by unlawful taking, under $500; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

GPD Officer Jabin McGuire testified.



• Kakeeya J. Tooley, 30, of Glasgow, on a single count of first-degree possession of controlled substance, cocaine, second offense; first-degree promoting contraband; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol which impairs one’s driving ability, first offense; and second-degree persistent felony offender.

Tooley was sentenced August 2007 in Barren County Circuit Court for first-degree promoting contraband; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense; and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, alprazolam.

She was sentenced December 2007 in Monroe Circuit Court for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, cocaine.

• Two co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in November.

Elizabeth H. Dennis, 26, of Cave City, on a single count each of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, cocaine; endangering the welfare of a minor; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of marijuana.

Courtney C. Woodard, 31, of Cave City, on a single count each of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, cocaine, less than four grams, first offense; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, cocaine; endangering the welfare of a minor; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of marijuana.

• Matthew D. Lee, 20, of Fountain Run, on one count each of trafficking in marijuana, eight ounces or more but less than five pounds, second offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; giving officer false name or address; operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license; and failure to or improper signal.

• Randy S. Claxton, 28, of Glasgow, on a single count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

GPD Officer Nick Houchens testified.



• Two co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in November and December.

Terrell L. Johnson, 24, of Glasgow, on one count of trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school; five counts of endangering the welfare of a minor; one count of operating a motor vehicle while license revoked or suspended for driving under the influence, third offense; two counts of trafficking in marijuana, less than eight ounces; one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, cocaine, four grams or more; one count of possession of drug paraphernalia; and one count of first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot.

Mary Ash, 25, of Glasgow, on one count of complicity to trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school; five counts of endangering the welfare of a minor; one count of complicity to trafficking in marijuana, less than eight ounces; possession of drug paraphernalia; and two counts of operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license.

• Gregory A. Rumph, Jr., 25, of Glasgow, on a single count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

• Two co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in December.

Diamond Scruggs-Hughes, 22, of Edmonton, on one count each of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor less than 16 years old; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, second-offense; and second-degree possession of a controlled substance, suboxone.

Jamie L. Scarborough, 26, of Edmonton, on a single count each of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor less than 16 years old; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and second-degree possession of a controlled substance, suboxone.

• Three co-defendants were indicted on charges related to incidents in January.

Aaron W. Lewis, 22, of Glasgow, on a single count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursor, first offense; first degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and tampering with physical evidence.

Shelby T. Bailey, 19, of Glasgow, on a single count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursor, first offense; first degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and tampering with physical evidence.

Tyler R. Scott, 19, of Glasgow on one count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursor, first offense; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and tampering with physical evidence.

Barren County Drug Task Force Detective Eric Guffey testified.



• Michael L. Hall, 54, of Glasgow, on one count each of second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Hall was sentenced December 1992 in Davies Circuit court for murder-non-family-identify weapon.

Hall was sentenced June 1990 in Barren Circuit court for first-degree assault.

• Denita G. Wilson, 43, of Glasgow, on one count each of obtained or attempted to obtain a controlled substance by fraud or false statement regarding prescriptions, failure to notify address change to department of transportation and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Wilson was sentenced September 2006 in Barren County Circuit Court for two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or false statement regarding prescriptions, second offense.

He was sentenced May 2004 in Jefferson Circuit Court for four courts of obtaining or attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud or deceit.

Wilson was sentenced May 2004 in Jefferson Circuit Court for theft by unlawful taking, over $300.

• James B. Keeton, 28, of Glasgow, on one count each of manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense; unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursor, first offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Susan G. Foster, 26, of Glasgow, on a single count of obtained or attempted to obtain a controlled substance by fraud or false statement regarding prescriptions; third-degree possession of controlled substance, alprazolam; third-degree possession of a controlled substance, lorazepam; and controlled substance prescription not in original container, first offense.

• Thomas L. Payne, 22, of Cave City, on one count of forth-degree assault, domestic violence, third offense or more within five years.

• Roxanna D. Hartell, 40, of Glasgow, on two counts of fail to report change in order to receive benefits.

• Cornelius W. Crenshaw, as known as Buck Crenshaw, 25, of Center, on a single count of first-degree trafficking in controlled substance, cocaine, less than four grams, first offense.

• Derick J. Flatt, 24, of Glasgow, on a single count of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, firearm; theft of a legend drug, first offense or value under $300; and theft by unlawful taking or disposition, under $500.

• Janzeal M. Covington, 39, of Glasgow, on five counts of second-degree forgery.

GPD Officer Justin Kirkpatrick testified.



• James B. Slover, 28, of Horse Cave, on one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument.
