GLASGOW — A Glasgow police officer  has been suspended for five days without pay, according to a Glasgow Police Department press release issued Wednesday evening.

Chief of Police Guy Turcotte found that Officer Joseph Ford violated GPD’s Code of Ethics after conducting an internal affairs investigation, according to the release.

Ford will return to work on March 4, the release stated.

Julie Anne Williams, public affairs officer for the GPD, said Wednesday the department would not give out any additional information at this time.

When reached by cellphone Thursday, Glasgow Mayor Rhonda Riherd Trautman said she would return the call to the Daily Times. Later Thursday, Williams called the Daily Times and said Trautman told her to call and say the mayor did not have a comment.

The Daily Times filed an open records request Thursday seeking documents related to Ford’s suspension.

Williams on Thursday said she did receive the open records request.

Trautman confirmed that she told Williams to call the Daily Times and that the Times will “soon have the complete file.”

Ford declined to comment Thursday, saying he’s “not allowed to talk to the media unless it is approved.”
