The state Department of Transportation office in Elizabethtown has issued a caution about roadways.
"As crews continue to work on area roadways from Sunday night’s snow and ice, we have a new concern for heavy rain," a press release stated. Snow pushed to the side of many area roads could possibly restrict drainage and run-off of water once heavy rain starts later today. Crews will be working to push snow off roadway shoulders. Our snow and ice trucks may be moving very slow and making a variety of movements."
The release further cautioned motorists to be aware of snow and ice removal vehicles on the road and to slow down to reduce the risk of hydroplaning on water-covered roadways.
"Slow down, do not allow electronic devices to impair driving and pay close attention to surroundings," the release stated.
