9:32 MORNING UPDATE: Marion Co. fire claims life of one man

LEBANON — The Kentucky State Police are investigating a fire that occurred in the early evening hours Friday at 885 Penick Road in Marion County. The fire claimed the life of 55-year-old Gerald Mays Jr.  

The preliminary investigation indicates the fire might have originated in the area of a wood stove. No one else was in the residence.

KSP arson investigator Alex Wesley and KSP Detective Nick Davis are investigating and no foul play is expected. They were assisted at the scene by Marion County Fire, EMS and the State Fire Marshall’s Office. The case remains under investigation, with an autopsy to be performed at a later date.
