Metcalfe County Fiscal Court magistrates award bids, approve financials

GLASGOW — Metcalfe County magistrates took care of several routine items earlier this week, including the awarding of a bid for nine small bridge repair projects.

Magistrates received two bids. One was for $129,638, submitted by Bluegrass Associates of Glasgow. The other was for $123,000, submitted by Kelvin Wilson Dozing of Hardyville.

After reviewing the bids, magistrates voted to award the bid to Kelvin Wilson Dozing, said Vickie Stephens, fiscal court clerk.

Magistrates also approved the county’s monthly and fourth quarter financial statement, which revealed a cash balance of $2,931,401 as of June 30.

Metcalfe County Judge-Executive Greg Wilson reminded magistrates of a public meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. July 31 at the Sulphur Well Community Center regarding improvements along U.S. 68.

In other business, magistrates approved the 2013-14 treasurer’s report; approved monthly claims; accepted quarterly reports from the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce and the North Metcalfe Volunteer Fire Department.
