Health fair offers affordable screenings

GLASGOW — A health fair at the T.J. Health Pavilion Community Center will offer a variety of inexpensive health screenings to community members Saturday.

A basic lab panel, lipid panel, bone density screening, height and weight, blood pressure and body mass index will all be offered for $15 from 7 to 10 a.m. A prostate specific antigen (PSA) test will be offered to men for an additional $5.

The T.J. pavilion staff decided hosting a health fair would be a good service for the public, said Scot Smith, R.N. with T.J.’s Your Wellness Place. A health fair like this has not been offered for about eight years or so, Smith said, but there was no good reason not to offer it.

“It is a very inexpensive way to have some of your basic health indicators checked,” Smith said.
