Pulling for pleasure

GLASGOW — Randy Simmons has been taking part in truck and tractor pulls for seven years.

He does it, he said, because it’s fun.

“It was kind of a hobby and it’s still a hobby, but it just kind of gets into your blood. It’s recreation,” said Simmons, of the Temple Hill community in Barren County.

On Monday night he competed in the Kentucky Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pullers Association truck and tractor pull at the Barren County Fair. He said he enjoys the competition and likes to win.

“But it doesn’t bother me to lose. The last two pulls I’ve been in I got second place both times. One time I got beat 0.05 of a foot, which is less than an inch. I got beat by one of my good friends and I was glad for him,” Simmons said. “We’re friends and we have fun at it.”
