Painting Class

GLASGOW — Yvonne Copas, of Smiths Grove, mixes acrylic paint during a community education painting class at First Presbyterian Church in Glasgow Tuesday. Copas said she's been attending the night art classes for the past four years. She had worked with watercolors previously, but only seriously began working with acrylic paints when she began the classes. "Acrylic is just more forgiving," she said. Patty Hughes, of Glasgow, teaches the art classes that meet Monday and Tuesday every week. Hughes, who is a retired special education teacher, said she's been teaching the classes since 2006, and thoroughly enjoys it. "I've made lasting friends  through this, and it's been an important part of my life," Hughes said.
