A woman who sustained severe burns from a house fire over Labor Day weekend has died.
Donita Firkins died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, according to a hospital spokesman.
Firkins was flown to Vanderbilt on Sunday. She and another person at 206 Bryan St. sustained burns from the fire.
According to a Glasgow Fire Department report, firefighters were called to extinguish a fire at the residence on Sunday afternoon. The fire was in the living room of the home. Firkins and the other occupant of the house managed to escape the fire before firefighters arrived on the scene. Firkins received the most severe burns, the report stated.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and removed remaining smoke from the home. Two other rooms of the house, aside from the living room, sustained damage from the fire. No damage estimate was given and no other injuries were reported, the report stated.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, the report stated.
