Glasgow-Barren County Tourist Commission members agreed earlier this week to grant a $1,000 funding request to help the 400-mile yard sale, which spans the state along U.S. 68/Ky. 80 from Mount Washington to Paducah.
The event takes place the first full weekend in June. The commission has contributed $1,000 for several years toward the event, said Ann Stewart, marketing director for the tourist commission.
“It brings a lot of people through the rural communities of Barren County,” she said.
In addition to granting the request for the 400-mile yard sale, the commission also heard a report on the amount of tourism dollars collected.
“We’re approximately $2,000 up from last year, which will be the highest we’ve ever had at this time of year,” Stewart said. “So, that’s encouraging. We were up a little bit last year, but came down. We still had a good year last year.”
