GLASGOW — A Glasgow woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon. Melyssa M. Schoepflin, 25, of Glasgow was traveling west on Veterans Outer Loop in a 2005 Toyota passenger car when a 2011 Nissan, driven by Paul Jennings, 76, of Glasgow pulled in front of her at the intersection of Franks Mill Road, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office statement. After the vehicles collided, Schoepflin’s vehicle continued across the eastbound lane of traffic and came to a stop in a ditch, according to the statement.

She was transported by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where she was treated and released. Jennings did not report any injuries, according to the statement. The East Barren Volunteer Fire Department and Glasgow Fire Department also responded.

In other law enforcement news, information has become available from Kentucky State Police regarding an accident over the weekend. Personnel from KSP’s Bowling Green post responded to a 2:25 p.m. call for service Sunday at the 45.5 mile point in Edmonson County on Interstate 65.

Carl Plested, 47, was operating a 1999 Toyota Camry when he struck a pool of water in the roadway, causing him to hydroplane and lose control, according to a KSP statement. Plested veered left, striking the concrete barrier, and then veered back across the highway to the emergency lane. A passenger in the vehicle, Larry Quattlebaum, 47, was transported to Caverna Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. Barren-Metcalfe EMS and the Park City Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
