A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck collided with the trailer on a semi truck Friday afternoon, leaving one person with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Barren County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
Witnesses told investigators that Charles A. Noel, 49, of Louisville who was driving the semi – a 2006 International – ran a red light as he was southbound on Veterans Outer Loop, and as the pickup was westbound on U.S. 68-Ky. 80, the front of the pickup truck struck the trailer at the rear axle and displaced it, said Deputy Mike Houchens, public information officer for BCSO.
The driver of the pickup, whose name he did not have available at the moment, was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital by Barren-Metcalfe County Emergency Medical Services. No passengers were in either vehicle East Barren Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The trailer on the semi was being moved to the shoulder to await the arrival of another trailer, so the car parts that were being hauled could be transferred, Houchens said.
