Local Mammoth Cave National Park employee gets to help with Pa. celebration

GLASGOW — Vickie Carson has the kind of job a lot of people wouldn’t mind having. It’s the kind of job that affords her the opportunity to meet new people and to travel.

Carson is the public information officer for Mammoth Cave National Park.

Her primary duty is to provide the public with information about the national park, whether it is  by writing press releases, speaking to various groups or coordinating interviews between Mammoth Cave personnel and the media.

Occasionally, Carson is invited to help provide the public with information about specific events at other national parks, such as the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, a major Civil War battle that took place July 1-3, 1863, in Gettysburg, Pa.
