Kentucky-harvested, 100 percent pure maple syrup is not exactly easy to find. But Jordan and Larissa Woodie bring just that to the Bounty of the Barrens farmers market each Saturday in Glasgow.
Larissa Woodie’s stepmother, Terry Blythe, owns Federal Grove bed and breakfast, restaurant and maple syrup in Auburn, Ky. When Blythe and her son, Lee Blythe, started exploring maple syrup production a few years ago, Federal Grove became one of the southernmost commercial maple syrup groves in the country. Larissa and Jordan Woodie help their family with Federal Grove in various capacities, Jordan Woodie said, and as they became familiar with maple syrup they decided they wanted to bring the product to Glasgow.
“Our main motivation, as Glasgow people, is just to add Kentucky maple syrup to the Sustainable Glasgow repertoire,” Jordan Woodie said.
