Barren County's Benny Lile named new Metcalfe County Schools superintendent

GLASGOW — Dr. Benny Lile was named the new Metcalfe County Schools superintendent at a special-called meeting Tuesday night.

There were originally 24 applicants for the position, which were later narrowed to three candidates, all of whom were from Kentucky.

Joey  Shive, MCS Board of Education chairman said it was Lile’s work experience, amicable personality and his student-oriented focus that really made him stand out.

“We had so many applicants [who] just wanted to be a superintendent somewhere, but being a superintendent wasn’t really a career goal for Mr. Lile,” Shive said. “He didn’t apply anywhere else because he wanted to be the superintendent of the Metcalfe County Schools.”
