11:55 MORNING UPDATE: Widening of I65 continues north toward Horse Cave

BOWLING GREEN — Motorists will soon see crews working on the five mile section of Interstate 65 between Cave City and Horse Cave, touching both Barren and Hart Counties. Awarded to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone, LLC for $41,780,000, this section will complete the I-65 widening efforts for District 3 and is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2014.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet holds a construction letting on a monthly basis with projects awarded within a week to ten days. This information can be accessed via the internet at:

In addition to the interstate widening, several other projects were also included in the October letting for District 3 that include asphalt resurfacing, milling up small portions of road bed for repair and culvert replacements.

Butler — KY 340/Oak Ridge Road: Culvert replacement from KY 79 extending north to Dockery Ridge Road, a distance of 5.18 miles. This project was awarded to NWK Construction, Inc. for $161,000.

Edmonson — Shady Land Church Road: Asphalt resurfacing from KY 2326 extending west to Warren County line, a distance of 1.8 miles. This project was awarded to Scotty’s Construction and Stone, LLC for $226,000.

Todd — Asphalt resurfacing and roadway rehabilitation:

o       US 41/Dixie Bee Line Highway from 50 ft. south of KY 346 extending to 230 ft. north of KY 346, a distance of .05 mile. 

US 68X from 150 ft. west of Elkton courthouse square extending east to 160 ft. east of Elkton, a distance of 0.11 mile.

The project was awarded to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone, LLC for $241,000.

Simpson-Warren — Asphalt resurfacing and roadway rehabilitation: KY 100/Scottsville Road from Trotter’s Lane to 385 feet east of I-65, a distance of 0.15 mile. 

US 68/Russellville Road from 300 ft. west of US 68 on Natcher Parkway southbound exit ramp extending north to 100 ft. north of Natcher Parkway exit ramp, a distance of 0.08 mile.

US 68/Glasgow Road from US 31W extending east to 150 feet east of US 31W, a distance of 0.03 mile.

KY 234/Cemetery Road from 175 west of I-65 overpass extending east to 275 feet east of I-65 overpass, a distance of 0.11 mile.

These projects were awarded to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone, LLC for $493,000.

As details are worked out for start dates, the public will be informed.

District 3 is comprised of the following counties: Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren.
