A Barren County resident has been appointed to a three-year term on the Friends of Kentucky Libraries Inc., a statewide non-profit organization advocating for public libraries on local, state and federal levels.
Linda Hitchcock was elected to the state organization’s board earlier this month.
“It’s exciting,” Hitchcock said. “The Friends of Kentucky Libraries is the state advocacy group for friends of library organizations and I’m going to be working on two committees.”
One of the committees to which Hitchcock has been assigned involves mentoring libraries in southcentral Kentucky on how to establish friends
She will also be involved with the committee that will help friends groups with fundraising efforts and event planning.
