Courthouse offices to stay for now

Magistrates vote ‘no’ on W. Stockton Street location

GLASGOW — At least for now, county offices in the Historic Metcalfe County Courthouse will be staying put.

In a split vote, Metcalfe County Fiscal Court opted to pass on property on West Stockton Street after Judge-Executive Greg Wilson told them he thought they owed a yes-or-no answer to the owners, who had been asking him whether a decision had been reached.

Discussion tossed about possibilities such as making improvements to the courthouse, building an annex to the courthouse or purchasing property around the square and renovating or constructing a building on that new site – with a lean toward new construction if that were pursued.
