Soldier helped Office of Strategic Services transport Hitler’s plunder

GLASGOW — For many years, Hack Bertram kept a secret about what he did late one summer night in Paris in 1946.

He kept it all a secret because that was what he was told do.

Hack, who is 86 and lives in Glasgow, was part of a secret mission for the Office of Strategic Services, an intelligence agency formed during World War II and the forerunner of the CIA.

He was part of a group of soldiers chosen for the mission.
