Artisan crafts unique pieces

GLASGOW — Sherry Wheeler had always thought she would like to learn how to paint.

“I had probably, for the last 15 years, said when I retire I’m going to take a watercolor class. When I retire I’m going to do art,” she said.

Wheeler, of Fountain Run, taught at Barren County High School for 10 years before transferring to Austin-Tracy Elementary School where she taught fourth through the sixth grade before retiring. She is currently taking a watercolor class from Nancy Doss, a fellow member of the Arts Guild of the Barrens, but Wheeler is not known for being a painter, or at least not yet.
