TOMPKINSVILLE — James Ellis Emberton, 83, of Tompkinsville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at Monroe County Medical in Tompkinsville.
He was born April 12, 1930, in Monroe County, to the late Lorenza Dow Emberton and Letha McCauley Emberton. He was a retired logger for Homer Bartley Lumber and of the Baptist faith. He was united in marriage on Oct. 30, 1950 to Mary Alice Crews in Tompkinsville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Emberton, of Tompkinsville; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Shelia Emberton, of Tompkinsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Tim Harrison, of Glasgow; three sisters, Edna York, of Mitchell, Ind., Bertie Cardwell, of Bowling Green, Hazel Mitchell, of Crawfordsville, Ind.; three grandchildren, Shayne and wife Cindy Emberton, Trent Emberton and April Flowers, of Glasgow, four great-grandchildren, Lydia, Leah and Layni Emberton and Michael Flowers; special friend, Bobby Bybee, of Tompkinsville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Luther and Dow Eagle Emberton; three sisters, Mary Doyle Emberton, Ruby Church and Evie Shoopman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Skaggs Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. on Friday and after 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
