Glasgow Daily Times
From the Kentucky Department of Highways offices in Bowling Green and Elizabethtown:
3:38 p.m.: Cleanup from this morning’s crash on southbound Interstate 65 at Exit 58 is complete. All lanes are open and the 14 feet width restriction is lifted. It will take an hour or so for the six to eight miles of queue to clear and for traffic flow to return to normal.
1:22 p.m.: Crews have worked to open one lane of Interstate 65 southbound at Exit 58 (Horse Cave). The detour around via southbound exit and entrance ramps, crossing Ky. 218 is discontinued, except for wide loads over 14 feet. All loads 14 feet and over must use the exit and entrance ramps at Exit 58.
Traffic remains heavy and is backed up to approximately mile point 66, north of Munfordville. Motorists should still be alert for stop-and-go traffic ahead. US 31-W through Munfordville is also very congested. Motorists are urged to stay on I-65 now that a lane is open.
Following US 31-W to bypass the crash is not beneficial based on traffic volumes along the corridor at this time. Local motorists using Ky. 218 and Ky. 335 (from Rowletts toward the Love’s Truck Plaza) should also still expect congestion and delays in the interchange vicinity due to the large number of vehicles trying to access the slowly moving flow of the interstate.
Estimated time to complete cleanup and get all lanes open is 4 hours.
11:22 a.m.: The left lane at on I-65 southbound at exit 58 in Hart County is now open.
10:27 a.m.: Cleanup is progressing and expected to take about 5 to 6 hours. Crews are working to get one lane open in about 2-3 hours so that the detour across Ky. 218 via the ramps can be discontinued.
9:27 a.m.: Interstate 65 southbound is closed at Exit 58 (Horse Cave) to due a semi crash.
Traffic is being detoured around the crash via the southbound exit and entrance ramps, crossing Ky. 218. Southbound I-65 motorists should expect delays upon approach to mile point 58 and be alert for stop-and-go traffic ahead.
Local motorists using Ky. 218 and Ky. 335 (from Rowletts toward the Love’s Truck Plaza) should expect congestion and delays in the interchange vicinity.
The vehicle’s cargo consisted of a load of corn. The crash is located within the I-65 widening project construction zone. With barrier wall and guardrail constraints complicating cleanup, the closure and detour is expected to take at least six hours.
