GLASGOW —

Barren County property taxpayers will have the same rates again this year as last year, even though it is expected to bring in a lower amount of revenue.

The originally proposed ordinance considered by Barren County Fiscal Court last month would have set the rate for real estate at 13.9 cents per $100 of assessed value, because that was the compensating rate that would have made up for a decrease of approximately $72,000 to $73,000 in assessments and generated approximately the same amount of revenue as the prior year. During their August meeting, however, the majority of magistrates decided they wanted to keep the rate the same as last year, which was 13.6 cents, or 0.136, per $100 of assessed value.
