12:34 AFTERNOON UPDATE: I-65 northbound reopened

BOWLING GREEN — 12:32 UPDATE: Northbound Interstate 65 has reopened with the clearing of materials from a semi truck crash, according to Keirsten Jaggers, public information officer with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's District Three Office in Bowling Green.

A tractor-trailer had jack-knifed on northbound I- 65 in southern Hart County at mile marker 55. An earlier advisory stated the truck was carrying lumber. Additional information determined it was a load of steel. This crash has occurred in the construction zone creating issues with material removal due to barrier wall constricting boundaries of the roadway, according to Jaggers in a press release.

The towing company is on scene and working to remove the truck from the northbound lanes.

Motorists continue to be detoured off I-65 at Cave City (mile marker 53) and back onto the interstate at Horse Cave (mile marker 58).

Crews on site anticipate having the area cleared and open to traffic in 2-3 hours.Motorists should anticipate slow moving traffic while traveling in the detour and be prepared for stopped vehicles. Traffic is currently backed up approximately 6 miles, the press release stated.
