The Kentucky State Police responded to a two- vehicle collision on Interstate 64 in Clark County on Tuesday in the eastbound lane near mile-marker 99 involving an off-duty Kentucky State Police trooper.

The wreck occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. when a 1999 Toyota pickup truck driven by Trooper Anson Blake Tribby, 25, of Mt. Sterling, collided with a flatbed wrecker operated by John Masterson, 54, of Winchester.

Tribby was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner.  Tribby had been with the state police for a little more than two years and was assigned to the Morehead Post, according to a state police press release.

Masterson was not injured in the wreck, according to Sgt. Rick Saint-Blancard with the state police's public affairs branch.

The state police were assisted by deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the Clark County Coroner, Clark County Fire and Rescue personnel and the Kentucky Incident Management Team.

The collision remains under investigation by the state police, the press release stated.
