According to a survey done by The Small Area Health Insurance Estimates, a part of the Census Bureau, Adair County, Monroe County and Edmonson County are in the top 10 counties that have the most uninsured residents in Kentucky; and Metcalfe County, Clinton County and Cumberland County have more than a 20 percent rate of uninsured residents. These statistics are from the latest year available, which is 2011.
Other than the top ten counties on the list, there are ten Kentucky counties that have an uninsured rate that is 20 percent or above but less than 21 percent, three counties that have an uninsured rate less than 20 percent but more than 19 percent and 17 counties that are at a 19 percent uninsured rate. The margin of error is plus or minus about two percentage points. The total amount of uninsured in the commonwealth of Kentucky is 16.9 percent with a margin of error of .4 percent.
