Bids are in for Glasgow wastewater treatment plant project

GLASGOW — A Cynthiana company has been chosen to do the work on a massive overhaul of the Glasgow Water Co.’s waste water treatment plant.

The first one of the six bids opened Sept. 5 was for nearly $9.5 million, which GWC General Manager Scott Young and Mayor Rhonda Riherd Trautman both said scared them. Most were better after that, though. The range was $8.2 million to $9.7 million.

At its regular monthly meeting Thursday, the Water and Sewer Commission reviewed the bids as well as a letter from Cannon & Cannon Inc., the design engineering company for the project, which had analyzed all the bid documentation, checked the bidders references and other pertinent information, and made a recommendation.
