Eagle lands donations

Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW — Every year around this time, the Community Relief Fund, which serves about 6,000 people, experiences shortages in their food pantry due to the busy holiday season.

Colton Eaton, 15, a boy scout with Glasgow troop 747, decided to incorporate his passion of helping others in his Eagle Scout project. Eaton donated 800 canned goods and about 300 dry boxed goods to Community Relief Fund to help replenish their shelves.

“I just wanted to help the community the best I could,” Colton said.

Colton said he’s been working on his Eagle Scout project for about a month. He logged his hours, all the volunteers that helped, and what they did to work towards their goal of helping the Community Relief Fund.

For two weeks, Colton setup donation boxes at the Houchens Market and Walmart. Colton and other volunteers also went door to door asking people for donations.

The campaign was a great success and no one is more thrilled about it than Colton.

“It feels great to help others,” he said.
