Local schools compete at Governor’s Cup competition

GLASGOW — Barren County High School and Glasgow High School students will compete against 149 other Kentucky high schools at the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition’s Governor’s Cup State Finals beginning Saturday.

Barren County Middle School, Glasgow Middle School and Monroe County Middle will also be competing at the state competition against more than 240 other Kentucky middle schools.

The students at the state competition represent the best of the best in their competition category, allowing students to showcase their talents in a variety of areas including math, social studies, science, language arts, arts and humanities, written composition, quick recall, where students have to respond to a question in a fast, jeopardy-like fashion, and future problem solving, an exercise that encourages creativity and critical thinking.
