8:53 MORNING UPDATE: Results of Cave City 'Drive Sober' campaign released

CAVE CITY — Across the bluegrass, law enforcement officers have been cracking down on drunk driving.

Through a grant provided by the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, the Cave City Police Department participated in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Highway Safety Campaign.

The campaign ran from Dec. 13 to Jan. 1.There were several hours of enforcement completed, along with two highway safety checkpoints. Total enforcement activity over the period of the campaign included: two DUI arrests, seven seat belt citations, three felony arrests, five fugitives apprehended, six speeding citations, eight drug arrests/citations and 12 various other traffic related offenses.

"Thanks to all who assisted with the campaign, including the media, for notifying the public that there would be more enforcement on the roadways. Thanks for making this a safe campaign for the Cave City Police Department," said Cave City Police Chief Jeff Wright.
