GLASGOW — Ronnie Hiser, 58, of Edmonton was flown by medical helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital and remained in critical condition Tuesday evening after he was shot just before 9 a.m., stated Trooper Billy Gregory, public information officer for the Kentucky State Police in Columbia, through a press release.
William D. Chesher, 63, of Louisville was arrested and charged with assault, first degree, and with tampering with physical evidence, Gregory stated in a press release Tuesday evening. Chesher was located in Edmonton after the shooting, and he was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center, Gregory added. Bond had not been set by early Tuesday evening, according to the jail website.
The property where the alleged incident occurred is in the 7100 block of U.S. 68-Ky. 80, about seven miles west of Edmonton, within two miles of the Barren County line near the Wisdom community in Metcalfe County. A log home sits on the property at the end of a winding gravel drive.
Ronnie Hiser's wife, Karen Hiser, was at the residence at the time of the shooting but was not injured and placed the call to 911 as Chesher fled the scene, the press release stated. Edmonton Police Department brought in KSP, and KSP Detective Ricky Brooks continues to investigate, Gregory stated.
