2 arrested for cattle theft

GLASGOW — Two people have been arrested in connection with the theft of cattle from Farmer’s Livestock Market in Glasgow on Tuesday morning.

Byron Caldwell, 26, of Edmonton, and Nathaniel Johnson,19, of Columbia, were arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking – livestock.

The theft occurred at 5:56 a.m. Tuesday when 10 Holstein steers were taken from the market.

A suspect, caught on video surveillance equipment, was driving an older model black Ford or Dodge pickup truck that was pulling a utility-type trailer with slide-in metal racks, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office press release.

BCSO led the investigation and the two men were arrested in Metcalfe County with assistance from the Metcalfe Sheriff’s Office, Edmonton Police Department and Adair County Sheriff’s Office.

Caldwell and Johnson were lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
