Crain’s family, co-workers react

GLASGOW — Vanessa Moldon was surprised to learn someone had been arrested in connection with her brother’s death.

Moldon’s brother, Brandon Tyler Crain, 19, of Munfordville, was reported missing on Jan. 26, 2012. His body was discovered by fishermen in the Green River in the Woodbury community of Butler County on April 28, 2012.

“All I know is I’m in shock,” Moldon said. “I wasn’t expecting anything like this. I’m still in shock.”

Daniel J. Hostetler, 19, of Summer Shade, was arrested Saturday by Hart County Sheriff Boston Hensley and Hart County Deputy Jeff Wilson and charged with first-degree manslaughter. He is being held at the Hart County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

Moldon and her family had always thought there was something suspicious about her brother’s disappearance.

“We knew that when he went missing that something bad had happened,” she said. “Brandon would not go off and leave. Everybody who knew Brandon knew he wouldn’t kill himself.”

Moldon had accepted her brother’s death for what it was.

“When this came about, it’s opened a whole new can of worms,” she said.
