TOMPKINSVILLE — Elizabeth Ann "Liz" (Young) Willett, 63, of Tompkinsville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, while in the company of family members, at her home. Liz was born in Glasgow, on May 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Sue (Cole) and Russell Owen Young. On Oct. 6, 1972, in Birmingham, Ala., she married her husband of 41 years, Tommy Willett, who survives her. Liz was a lifetime member of Tompkinsville First United Methodist Church. She pursued her career in education for 34 and a half years, during this time she was a teacher, assistant principal, principal, instructional secondary supervisor, and interim superintendent, mostly this was done in the Monroe County School System.
Liz is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws; James and Melissa Willett, of Scottsville, Scott and Kristin Willett, of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Hayden, Kate, Clay and Carter Willett. She is also survived by two brothers and sister-in-laws, David and Karen Young, of Scottsville, Bill and Karen Young, of Owensboro. A sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beth and Tony High.
Funeral services will be held at Monroe County High School Gymnasium at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013. Visitation will be held Monday after 2 p.m. and Tuesday 6 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, and after 1 p.m. at Monroe County High School Gymnasium. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Imagination Library or Backpack for Kids.
