Hurt gets good news

— Metcalfe County’s superintendent of schools recently received a good rating from the board of education when it evaluated her performance.
The board unanimously agreed Patricia Hurt, who has served as superintendent for three years, has met or exceeded all goals set forth by the school board.
“The board agrees Superintendent Hurt continues to lead this district in an ethical, moral and professional manner,” according to a statement issued by the school board. “This board will continue to support Superintendent Hurt and district staff in their daily pursuit for educational excellence. This board also recommends Superintendent Hurt be offered continued employment in the Metcalfe County School District contingent upon a negotiated contract.”
Board member Karen Tudor said of Hurt, “She does a very good job of keeping the board informed of things that are going on in the district. We’re fortunate to have her.”
Hurt’s four-year contract expires June 30, 2009.
Matt South, school board chairman, said it will be up to the incoming school board to negotiate a new contract with Hurt.
Two school board members, Tudor and LaKettia O’Leary, ran for reelection to the board unopposed and will be returning in January to serve another term.
Board members Julie Parsons and Steve Thompson have two more years to serve before their terms expire.
South will not be returning for another term.
Joining the board in January will be newly elected member Greg Harris.
