Two pedestrians attempting to cross the road were injured Sunday night when the driver of a car traveling U.S. 31E south in Hart County failed to see them, state police said.
Gregory Maxey, 37, and Ronda Slyfield, 37, both of Canmer, were transported by Hart County EMS to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of nonlife threatening injuries.
Police said William Nie, 48, of Munfordville, was traveling southbound on 31E as he approached the intersection of Ky. 1854. After passing the intersection, Nie noticed two pedestrians walking in the southbound lanes.
He was unsuccessful in attempting to avoid the accident and hit Maxey and Slyfield with the front of his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, police said. Nie then struck a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway.
