There are many Christmas parades scheduled to take place in the area over the next couple of weeks. The first one in the area will be in Smiths Grove at 6 p.m. on Friday. The theme of the parade is “A Small Town Christmas.” Smiths Grove’s parade will be followed by the Bowling Green Jaycee’s Christmas Parade on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The theme of the parade is “The Wonder of Christmas.” Bowling Green’s parade will be followed by the Horse Cave Christmas Parade at 10 a.m. and the Munfordville Christmas Parade at 1 p.m. The theme of Horse Cave and Munfordville’s parades are “Sounds of the Season.” The Glasgow/Barren County Christmas Parade is set for later that night at 6 o’clock. Country recording artist Andy Griggs will be grand marshal of the parade, which will feature over 190 entries. The theme of the parade is “Tinsel and Tunes at Twilight.” Parades in Edmonton, Cave City and Tompkinsville are scheduled for the following weekend, beginning with the Metcalfe County Christmas Parade at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, with the theme “Unwrap Magic and Music of Christmas.” The Metcalfe County Christmas Parade will be followed by the Cave City Christmas Parade at 5 p.m. also on Dec. 13, with the theme “Christmas Sunset Melodies and Memories.” Cave City businessman Royndal Doyle will be grand marshal of the parade. The Tompkinsville Christmas Parade is set for 6 p.m. on Dec. 13, but should the Monroe County Falcons win the football game against Fort Campbell the parade will be pushed back to the following day at 2 p.m. due to the football team participating in the state championship, said Susan Turner, a member of the Tompkinsville Jaycees, which is sponsoring the parade.
