Published November 24, 2009 01:47 pm - A Glasgow man was taken into custody Sunday on a drug trafficking charge. POLICE BRIEFS: Man arrested for drug trafficking Staff reports Glasgow Daily Times GLASGOW — A Glasgow man was taken into custody Sunday on a drug trafficking charge.
Shawn T. Nuckols, 18, 8691 Tompkinsville Road, Glasgow, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school, possession of marijuana, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving at 6:28 p.m. at the Southgate Plaza S L Rogers Wells Boulevard, according to a Glasgow Police Department report. Police had been called to the shopping center parking lot of a drug trafficking complaint. There they came into contact with a vehicle. One of the occupants told police they had come to buy marijuana from a suspect driving a white Chevrolet Camaro. While police were speaking a Camaro drove by and the person stated that was the vehicle, according to the report. When the officer flashed his lights the driver of the Camaro took off in the parking lot at a high rate of speed before being stopped in the Minit Mart parking lot, according to the report. Nuckols was driving the vehicle and marijuana was apparent when the vehicle was opened. A bag of marijuana along with prescription pills were found in the vehicle. Nuckols appeared to be under the influence and refused a blood test, according to the report. Nuckols is being held at the Barren County Correction Center on $2,500 bond. Two injured in wreck Two Barren County residents were involved in an automobile crash Monday at the intersection of Ky. 1243 and Ky. 70 in Metcalfe County. Kellie L. Slinker, 18, of Cave City, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pick up south on Ky. 1243 and Kristie A. Guitierrez, 34, of Glasgow, was driving east on Ky. 70. Slinker pulled her vehicle into the path of the one driven by Guitierrez, according to a report from Kentucky State Police in Columbia. Slinker was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Guitierrez was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where she was treated and released.
