The Sneed Family plans to keep on singing for the Lord

The Sneed Family has been singing and traveling for the Lord since 1982 and have no plans to stop.

The group includes Jeff Sneed, his wife Pam, their three kids: Amanda, 18, Seth, 15, and Jacob, 10, and Caleb Cowan, 21.

“Caleb will officially be part of the family in August of next year when he marries Amanda,” Jeff Sneed said. “He sings with us now, he also does a lot of the product set up. As of Aug. 21, it will be a total family group.”

Amanda has been singing with the group since she was 9 years old and plays the mandolin, Seth plays rhythm guitar, bass guitar and runs sound and Jacob plays the drums.

“It’s a good occupation that we’re permitted to do,” Jeff said. “We’re able to keep this shop (Jeff’s Country Florist) and go sing every weekend. Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, where Caleb works, is also very understanding and cooperative. We very much appreciate that as a group and as a family.”

The group has traveled to sing across the south, which means the kids are all home schooled.

The traveling doesn’t bother Amanda, who’s currently attending P.J.’s School of Cosmetology.

“I like the traveling and being able to be with my family,” she said. “I like meeting the people and going to different areas.”

Some people might know the group better as Glory Bound.

“We started out as Glory Bound, but had to change the name to The Sneed Family this year,” Sneed said. “As we’ve had many doors open to us in the last year, we’ve got to go to many states and met a lot of groups also named Glory Bound. Our producers have recommended we change to The Sneed Family. If you send anything out to radio, they’re more likely to play a family group than one of the 500 Glory Bounds in America.”

The group, which also runs a television show out of Scottsville called Glory Bound Jubilee, looks forward to opportunities they have but doesn’t want to forgot why they sing in the first place.

“You always want to move up and travel farther, but I’ve always thought that if you serve the Lord, He’ll put you where ever you need to be,” Jeff said. “All the big busses look wonderful, but that’s not our main goal. We don’t want to forget the ministry part and it’s really easy to loose sight of that.”

Jeff said he had worried about singing in other places because of cultural differences.

“We’ve found, though, that God has people everywhere and there are good people all across the nation; people of the same beliefs,” Sneed said.

He added that the fact he gets to sing with his family is something to be thankful for.
