ACTION: Council members voted to approve the following: minutes of their October meeting; monthly financial report; second reading of an ordinance amending the city's zoning ordinance limiting mobile homes to mobile home parks; second reading of an ordinance restating the method of restoration of pavement by utility companies; adopted a resolution giving Mayor Odell Martin permission to appoint a committee to look into the construction of a new fire station and possible city hall building and to take options on land; a supplement to the city’s code of ordinances; to allow City Attorney Pat Ross to check with insurance company regarding claim of hail storm damage to Thomas House and to make necessary repairs to the house; and first reading of an ordinance closing a railroad crossing on Bluegrass Avenue.
DISCUSSION: Council members were scheduled to approve on second reading an ordinance giving Mayor Odell Martin permission to hire a grant writer, but the issue died due to a lack of action by the council to approve the ordinance. Council members were also scheduled to award a bid for the installation of a new aluminum fence at the Main Street Cemetery, but the council opted not to install a fence at this time. Councilwoman Sue Nunn and Councilman Perry Martin discussed with Mayor Odell Martin issues they asked to be placed on the agenda for discussion, but have yet to be listed. Mayor Odell Martin agreed to sit down with the council members and discuss the issues.
CLOSED SESSION: Council members met in closed session to discuss possible acquisition of property. No action was taken.
