MEETING: Glasgow City Council

DATE: Nov. 9, 2009

ACTION: Council members took the following action: approved the minutes of the Oct. 26 meeting, passed a proclamation honoring Jesse W. Grider, United States Deputy Marshal (Retired), passed an ordinance on first reading amending an existing ordinance relating to the discharge of firearms at Glasgow Municipal Airport to thin the wild turkey population, with an additional amendment limiting hunting to bows and arrows and shotguns using shot pellets only, tabled an ordinance establishing a policy for past due accounts at the city landfill, passed an ordinance on first reading amending the city’s personnel policies and procedures manual by deleting a provision relating to longevity pay and approved the re-appointment of Jerry Botts to a three-year term with the Glasgow Water and Sewer Commission, expiring Nov. 1, 2012.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Councilman Brad Groce presented the semi-annual report on the city recreation department, Ernie Wagoner announced a new veterans organization called Freedom Warriors, Police Chief Horace Johnson, with Fire Chief Bobby Bunnell, announced a program called Coats for Kids is under way, Mayor Darrell Pickett announced the schedule of several Veterans Day celebrations and memorials in the city on Tuesday and Wednesday, councilman Freddie Norris announced that the council had a good turnout at the heart walk on Oct. 31 and donated more than $100 and councilman Tim Stutler announced that the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center will be hosting a home show on Dec. 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. and will unveil two new exhibits at the cultural center that day.
