A Cave City City Council member has resigned from his post only days before his term was to expire.
City clerk Pam Hunt confirmed Wednesday that Larry Davidson left his seat on Oct. 30.
“He didn’t indicate any reason to me or anything,” Hunt said. “He asked me to type up a one-line letter of resignation.”
That letter, according to Hunt, simply stated, “I, Larry Davidson, hereby tender my resignation effective immediately.”
The former council member would not expand on his decision other than to say it was for “personal reasons.”
Davidson was voted on to the council on May 14 to take the place of Missy Williams, who resigned on May 7. Williams herself had taken the place of Haskell “Hack” Borden, who resigned from the council on April 17.
One candidate, Dwayne Hatcher, filed to run for the vacant seat. Hunt said he only needed a single vote to secure the position.
“He’s already got that in absentee ballots,” Hunt said, adding that Hatcher will be sworn in at the Nov. 12 meeting.
