Pytko trial set to begin

— The trial for Barren County’s ‘No. 1 fugitive’ is to begin Wednesday morning.
Amanda Pytko, 21, of Bowling Green, was placed at the top of Barren County’s Sheriff’s inaugural “Most Wanted” list in January 2007. Pytko turned herself in, with her attorney at her side, in September 2007, after more than two years on the lam.
Police allege that Pytko and another woman entered the home of Dallas Flowers on May 4, 2005, saying that they were lost. They robbed him at gunpoint and during a struggle, Flowers was shot in the abdomen.
The females, along with a male accomplice, then bound the victim’s mouth, hands and feet with duck tape and left him for dead. The trio then stole money and property from the house and fled.
Pytko is charged with first-degree assault and burglary and could serve up to 40 years in prison if found guilty.
Heather Johnson, 21, also of Bowling Green, pleaded guilty in August 2006 to second-degree burglary and facilitation to commit assault in the first degree. She was sentenced to five years.
A co-defendant in the case, Marcus Britt, is scheduled to go on trial Oct. 23.
